idea file
I maintain three photo files in my studio: Utilized, In Progress, and Ideas. Utilized photos have already been used to complete an original painting, and are used to show clients the source material and to tell the stories associated with the piece. In Progress photos are those that have inspired me to start a painting, but for one reason or another, not yet complete. Finally, Ideas photos are intended to be source material for future projects. My goal with my files is for my Idea File to always be the biggest. That way, when I am ready to work on a new project, I flip through the Ideas, pick the one that grabs me the most that particular day, and away I go. It is then my hope that the photo will find its way into Utilized (not In Progress) sooner rather than later.
